Introduction of Food Registration
FSSAI is an independent organization recognized under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Government of India which is responsible for registering a food license. This organization works to protect the Food Business Rules and Standards in India. The main objective of the FSSAI is to regulate and monitor safe food production, storage, and management practices by Food Business Operators (FBOs). The FSSAI registration certificate comes with a 14-digit license number to FBOs that need to be printed on all food products bearing the FSSAI mark. A license can be applied for at least one to five years; may renew or re-apply under the provisions of the Food Security & Standards Act, 2006.
FSSAI was introduced to regulate the production, distribution, storage, sale, and export of food, and to ensure that safe and healthy food is available for use by individuals and related matters. FSSAI Registration or License is required for all food-related businesses such as restaurants, producers, grocery stores, retailers, small restaurants, exporters, exporters, dairy farms, processors, local food businesses, retailers, food business participants.
